Comparable periods
Use periods of the same length with data from the same wallets. Travel, holidays, or annual payments can account for a difference between months.
Absolute and percentage changes
The amount shows how much spending changed. The percentage shows the change relative to the earlier period. A 100% increase in a small category can still be less money than a 10% increase in a large one.
Transactions in the category
Open the category to see whether the difference came from regular spending, one large purchase, or incorrectly categorized transactions.
Changes to categories
Merging categories or changing transaction categories can alter the comparison. Keep those changes in mind when comparing past periods.
