What a budget does
A budget counts expenses from selected categories and compares them with a limit. It also shows whether the current spending rate can last until the end of the period.
Create a budget
- Open Planning → Budgets.
- Enter a name, limit and currency.
- Select the categories that should be counted.
- Choose a period.
- Choose daily pace or fixed bill.
- Set rollover and save.
Daily pace
Daily pace is used for spending spread through the period.
Example. A 30-day grocery budget is GEL 600. By day 12, GEL 310 has been spent. GEL 290 remains, but spending is GEL 70 ahead of an even pace. Tetri shows both the remaining amount and the pace.
Fixed bill
This mode is used for one expected charge such as rent. It checks whether the charge used the limit. It does not schedule the payment. Use a recurring rule for the date.
Rollover
- None starts the next period with the base limit.
- Accumulate adds the unused amount to the next period.
- Deficit only carries overspending forward.
Different currencies
Transactions keep their original currencies. The budget converts them only for comparison with its limit. The per-currency amounts remain available.
